The Legacy Planning process integrates three important elements. Wealth Transfer, Estate Planning and Philanthropic Planning. At Brightworth we understand the difference between having estate documents and having a wealth transfer plan. The art of wealth transfer is not just in knowing what innovative tools are available but what the key questions are that need to be addressed before strategies are implemented.
Wealth Transfer and Estate Planning
Each individual has different ideas as to what should happen to his/her assets during their lifetime and upon death. We start with a client's wealth transfer and estate planning goals and work to achieve those as efficiently as possible. Brightworth does not give legal advice. What we do is discuss with each client what their goals are for the next generation and the various techniques and strategies available to reach those goals. Once these are determined we work with their estate planning attorney to implement as needed. Our goal is to make the estate and wealth transfer planning process clear and understandable, while fully utilizing the appropriate estate tax minimization strategies.
Philanthropy Portfolio®
Often clients desire to "invest" in not-for-profit organizations and worthy causes through their charitable giving. Philanthropic planning is an area in which Brightworth has deep interest and expertise as many on our team are personally involved in significant charitable activities and have been advising clients for years on charitable financial strategy.
We can help you determine how much can be given during your lifetime and through your estate planning by building a comprehensive charitable giving program into your financial plan. And, as desired, we can assist you in determining the "Where" and "How" of your charitable giving through our proprietary Philanthropy Portfolio® process. The Philanthropy Portfolio® was developed at Brightworth and is a method of determining how your personal ideals and objectives can best be represented through the organizations you support and the ways in which you support them. This process will allow you to gain unique clarity and focus in your philanthropic activities.
As needed, Brightworth can assist you in evaluating sophisticated giving techniques such as Donor-Advised Funds, Charitable Trusts, and Private Foundations. Whatever the method, we will assist you in implementing a specialized investment strategy that is designed around your unique charitable objectives.
